How do I reboot a frozen remote desktop?

I went out of town, and I'm accessing my home computer using remote desktop connection from my laptop. But my home computer froze, and I need to reboot it. How do I reboot it remotely? When I connect, it shows the vista login screen, and says "Logging in..." but then it goes black, and is frozen. I can't reboot, because it's frozen. What can I do?

One possibility is doing a remote shutdown. If you press windows key + R then type shutdown -i the shutdown console comes up.

Here you can add the name of the computer on the network you wish to shutdown. Make sure you select restart from the drop down list.

Type in a reason for the shutdown then press ok.

This may not work as you might have to load the shutdown console in the context of your network user account, If so then you can try

windows + R then type

runas /user:user@yourdomain "shutdown - i"

enter password press enter

then repeat steps above once console has loaded.
