Where would I find software for an interactive international map?

I am in education - and so am looking for a website or software of some sort that works like a map for "where you're from". Something similar to pinning your name to your hometown on the map. (Free software or low-cost preferably).

You can try Google Map, if Google Earth lets yo do that, then just use Google Earth.
