What's the functional difference between 1 TB WD Elements and 1 TB WD MyBook Essential External Hard Drive?

I was able to get both of these drives for $69 so I bought both and plan to return one. The main difference I see on the box is that WD Elements is formatted already formatted for Windows and 7 and the My Book is Vista/Mac compatible out of the box.
I am running an HP Touchsmart Desktop and an HP TouchSmart Laptop both on Vista. I want to store large JPG, PNG and TIFF files, music and video from my digital camcorder as archives so that I have my original files off my desktop. (I keep sealed CD archives as well.) I would also like to be able to access the external files on my laptop occasional although daily portability is not my primary concern.

The Elements is USB only. MyBook has USB, 1394 and eSATA interface.

Just the interface type included and it becomes a matter of preference. You can format either of them however you want.

The specs don't provide any info about the exact drive inside them but likely the same one.
