What's the best way to create a photo slide show with music for my upcoming wedding?

I want to make a photo slide show with music that I can play at my wedding rehearsal dinner. I have pretty good computer skills, a PC laptop, and plenty of digital pictures, but I do not have the program to make the slide show. Can anyone help? Has anyone tried the "ProShow" software from PhotoDex company? What other products have you tried that you would recommend? Any other helpful advice would be much appreciated too. Thanks!!
I'd like to publish it to DVD as well, so that I can show it on tv easily.

Windows Movie Maker comes with pcs.
You can also use powerpoint.
I have Adobe Premier but never used it so I can't tell you how it os.
